How it works: Freedom to travel on your day of choice (Due to seasonal conditions, we recommend you book as far in advance as possible). Valid for 3 consecutive days from the start of your first tour. You may travel once on each included tour. Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park Entry Fee is included.
Uluru Sacred Sites & Sunset (Y17)
Visit Uluṟu - Kata Tjuṯa Cultural Centre - Where there is time to purchase some locally made Aboriginal art and learn more about the Western Desert region. Travel around the base of Uluru with a local Driver Guide - Learn about the native flora, fauna and intriguing cultural traditions of traditional owners, the Anangu, and discover an array of fascinating sacred sites. Join your Driver Guide for a walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. You'll explore a number of caves and view Aboriginal rock paintings as your Guide interprets their meaning and significance. Travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area, 'Sunset Strip' - Relax with a glass of wine and Nibbles as the sun sets over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is renowned. Please Note: If you are arriving via a Red Centre Connection or Flight, you may not have time to check into your hotel room before your afternoon tour departure time. Please have a Day Pack ready to go which includes the following items - Appropriate walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, a warm jacket during the cooler months & a minimum of 1 litre of water.
Uluru Morning Guided Base Walk 10.5km (Y40)
Rise early to travel to the base of Uluru - Here you will receive your breakfast, accompanied by your guide, and commence your base walk of Uluru as sunrise approaches. First, walk from Kuniya Piti - An Uluru sacred site and hear the Tjukurpa (Anangu – the local Aboriginal people - beliefs and law) story of the Mala Men. Next is the Mala Walk, one of the most important habitation areas for the local Aboriginal people for thousands of years. Kantju Gorge - The Mala walk includes a visit to Kantju Gorge, where after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres. From here, you are then on to the base of the climb point. Mutitjulu Waterhole - After a short rest break, continue on along the Lungkata Walk where your guide will tell you the Tjukurpa story of the cheeky Blue Tongue Lizard! Next stop is the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Your guide will indicate the natural features of the landscape, and Aboriginal rock paintings and relay more traditional stories relating to this special place. The waterhole was once an important water source for the Anangu people. Kuniya Piti - Your last section to complete your base walk is back to Kuniya Piti where you will board your coach back into town and receive a certificate of your achievement! Please note - All belongings must be carried for the whole duration of the 12km walk, please ensure you bring only what you are capable of carrying.
Afternoon - Kata Tjuta Sunset (Y8)
Enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) - For one of our favourite sunset experiences in Central Australia. Along the way your Driver Guide will explain the geological and cultural history of the area. Take in a magnificent outback sunset - Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset with canapés and Australian wine. Return to Ayers Rock Resort - Approximately 60 minutes after sunset.
Kata Tjuta Sunrise & Valley of the Winds (Y50)
Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) - Where your Driver Guide will explain the geological history of the area. Watch the spectacular sunrise over Kata Tjuta with Uluru in the distance from the western dune viewing area, light breakfast included. Valley of the Winds lookout - Your Driver Guide will then escort you on a 2-3 hour walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta. This tour may return to Ayers Rock Resort after midday.
Please note – A moderate level of fitness is required to complete the Valley of the Winds walk as the Walpa Gorge Walk is no longer an alternative option.
1 Full Day Tour: Kings Canyon & Outback Panoramas (Y19)
Travel to Kings Canyon - From Ayers Rock Resort, stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (included) along the way. Climb to the rim of the canyon - Make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Follow the rim of the canyon stopping to look down into the canyon gorge at look-out points. Time permitting, you may choose to descend into the green oasis of the 'Garden of Eden'. Circuit walk - The circuit walk takes approximately 3 hours to complete and is rocky and steep in parts. It is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may wish to take an easier, shorter walk to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor. Return to Ayers Rock Resort - After lunch (own expense).
