Green Island is a beautiful 6000-year-old coral cay located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park a premier world heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Aboard Great Adventures fast catamaran from Cairns, your journey to the Great Barrier Reef takes only 45 minutes. Surrounded by reef filled with diverse marine life and home to a unique rain forest environment, Green Island awaits to provide you with a memorable holiday experience. Take part in all the activities that the island has to offer or relax on the beach and let your day unfold in this tropical paradise. Stroll through the magical rain forest, laze on white coral sand beaches, swim and dive or snorkel. There is a wide range of optional activities to experience on Green Island. Scuba dive, join a snorkel excursion and even walk underwater with sea walker helmet diving. For an exhilarating top-side perspective of the reef, there's parasailing and scenic helicopter flights too. There's even the Marine land Melanesia Crocodile Habitat with daily crocodile shows.

Itinerary

Day 1: Green Island and Great Barrier Reef Adventure 7:30 to 8:30: Check-in at Great Adventures Reservations Counter inside the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal to obtain your boarding pass, Vessel boarding, Complimentary morning tea or coffee served onboarding, for your safety hot drinks are not served once the vessel is underway and depart Reef Fleet Terminal for Green Island. 9:15 to 11:15: Green Island 2 hours free time to explore Green Island Included snorkel gear, (fins mask and snorkel) can be obtained from the Dive Shop on the island. Enjoy a leisurely island walk with the self-guided Eco Island Walk or take a dip in the island swimming pool. Green Island is great for families with young children. Together you can take the glass bottom boat tour, try snorkelling or just wading in the shallow water and enjoy playing on the beach. 11:20: Re-board vessel for departure to the Great Barrier Reef platform. Cake selection served on forward journey. During your journey to the reef, a Reef Presentation is shown on the vessel's monitors. Watch Snorkeling demonstration by the crew. 12:30: Arrive at the Outer Great Barrier Reef platform Reef activities like Snorkeling, Semi Submarine, Underwater Observatory commences. Semi-submersible coral viewing tour with informative commentary departs every 30 minutes or as advised. Snorkel directly from the platform. Collect your snorkel gear and buoyancy vests once on the platform. The underwater observatory is open throughout the day for coral and fish viewing. 13:00 to 14:30: Lunch After Hot and cold buffet lunch is enjoyed more reef activities or just relax on the sundeck and take in the views, tea and coffee are available whilst at the platform. At the Outer Reef, you can visit the large underwater observatory any time throughout the day. Children are often mesmerized watching the different fish and corals and also the divers descending into the water. 15:50: A blast on the ship's horn will signal the time when all passengers should return to the vessel ready for departure. 15:40: The Great Barrier Reef is not one continuous reef but made up of over 2900 reefs and 900 islands. It is the largest reef structure and Marine Park in the world. So large in fact that it is visible from the moon. A passenger count is conducted before leaving the Reef. Crew will announce when this commences and we ask all passengers to co-operate during this very important procedure by not moving about the vessel. 15:45 to 17:30: Depart to Cairns via Green Island, complimentary cheese and biscuits served on the homeward journey. Arrive Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal.
