If you want to explore a day with rainforest Kuranda is the best place to see which is covered with tropical rainforest and Wildlife Park. We offer daily Kuranda tours, which allows you to explore the picture view of the tropical rainforest. With only 25kms to travel from Cairns to Kuranda, you can travel by coach of Skyrail which commences from Smithfield terminal, glide above the rainforest canopy to Kuranda as it stops along the way at Red Peak station and Barron falls station and view the nice scenery from the top. The historic village welcomes you with numerous cafes, restaurants and bars as we provide you with plenty of time to refresh and do shopping at your own expense. If your tour wants to be memorable then you can visit Australian Butterfly Sanctuary Park in Kuranda which allows you to see 2000 different varieties of tropical butterflies. Go for an Army duck ride and explore the Rainforest nature park with a guided walk and see many tropical fruits and plants. Enjoy the delicious tropical lunch served at the rainforest. See the art of performance by the Pamagirri Aboriginal dance troop on the rainforest amphitheatre and go for Dreamtime walk which includes boomerang throwing, spear throwing and didgeridoo playing. Koala and wildlife park in Kuranda is amazing to see with hand feed kangaroos, awesome crocodiles along with Koala. Enjoy the return journey by travelling with Kuranda Scenic railway which travels through 15 hand cut tunnels and past spectacular waterfalls and stops at Barron Gorge which allows you go out and view the falls, before arriving at Fresh Water Railway Station. 09:45: Skyrail Rainforest Cableway We transfer to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Smithfield terminal. The 7.5km Skyrail journey takes 30 to 40 minutes, however, we recommend you spend time at the two stations en route, which is Red Peak Station and Barron Falls Station. 10:45: Kuranda Village: Arrive at Kuranda Railway Station. On arrival in Kuranda, please make your way straight up to the coach parking area for the free shuttle bus to the Heritage Markets and Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, where you are entitled to a 10 per cent discount off your entry fee. You can visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary at your expense. Home to over 2,000 magnificent tropical butterflies including the striking blue Ulysses and majestic green Cairns Birdwing, the sanctuary is an all weather experience in the heart of Kuranda. You’ll be enchanted by these elusive wonders of nature as you wander through the aviary’s boardwalks and gardens with a picturesque rainforest backdrop. Our knowledgeable guides will take you through the aviary and our breeding laboratory, detailing a butterfly’s life cycle and its behaviour. Be sure to wear something bright and let these beautiful creatures flutter all over you. Alternatively, you may choose to walk into the Kuranda Village for your free time. Any other entries or expenditures in Kuranda Village are at own expense. 11:15: Rainforest Nature Park Please be at the bus stop outside Australian Butterfly Sanctuary to transfer to Rainforestation Nature Park. Enjoy a delicious hot buffet and a wide selection of salads, cheeses and fruits. Watch the Pamagirri Dancers perform in the rainforest amphitheatre, then join the Dreamtime Walk and learn to throw a boomerang or watch spear throwing and didgeridoo playing. Join a guided tour, and see crocodiles, snakes, dingoes, a cassowary, and hand feed kangaroos and wallabies. You will have the opportunity to have your photo taken cuddling a koala or holding a small crocodile at your expense. 15:00-15:50: Kuranda Rainforest Nature Park Transfer on the shuttle bus Rainforestation Nature Park to Kuranda Railway Station. Please present this itinerary to Kuranda Railway Station to receive your ticket for the 15:30. At 15:50, our Kuranda scenic rail departs. The scenic rail journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes through to Cairns Railway Station. Do not disembark at the Freshwater Station. 17:00: Cairns Your coach will be at the Cairns Railway Station to transfer you to your accommodation.
