Enjoy a personal tour through Clare valley. The Clare Valley has some great wineries. There are more than 40 and most of them have a cellar door. Drop in for a taste. Jim Barry Wines is a world beater. Its wines are available in more than 25 countries around the world. The winery produces its own fruit in 10 locations around the Clare Valley. Jim Barry, a pioneer of the industry, started the winery in 1959.
Itinerary
Our first stop for morning tea is the quaint little town of Auburn with time to a short wander through antique shops. We taste the product of the small winemakers of the Clare Valley. We visit Mintaro a historical township over a hundred years old with a pub, post office, and quaint shops still working today, Martindale Hall can be visited entree at your cost if required. We visit the Sevenhills Cellars, which is run by the Jesuit brothers. Here we can visit the historic church and explore the heritage of the first vineyard in the region. Lunch can be at the beautiful Skillogalee restaurant, winery where a gourmet lunch is served, which is one main meal per person and a glass of wine under the olive groves. After lunch and if time permits, we may travel next door to taste the fine wines of Kilakanoon wines with Kevin Mitchell. Our journey back takes us through the old copper mining town of Kapunda. If time permits, we have a drink at the old Kapunda hotel or have coffee before our return to Adelaide.
