Sydney Taronga Zoo opened in 1916 and has since become a major force for animal care, research, and conservation. You can take the ferry from Circular Quay to the zoo, a scenic ride that gives you stunning waterside views of the harbor city. Once inside the zoo, proceed around ten themed areas where the animals live in surroundings similar to their natural habitats. Some of the featured themes focus on Wild Australia, the Great Southern Oceans and Wild Asia. x Other optional activities such as animal encounters and guided tours can be booked at your own expense.
