Uluru Day Trip from Alice Springs Including BBQ Dinner
Your full-day tour starts early with morning pickup from many Alice Springs hotels by comfortable air-conditioned coach. Travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges to your first stop at Erldunda Roadhouse where you can purchase breakfast. You'll take rest stops during the 5-hour drive. Upon arrival in the national park, learn more about the Aboriginal Pitjantjatjara people and central Australia at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Next, go to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) for the Mala Walk, which features fine examples of Aboriginal rock art, plus sheer rock walls and important sites for the Anangu people. Hear about their Dreamtime tales as you stroll. Board your bus for the other side of Uluru and the short Kaniya walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. As you marvel at the red rock and, at wetter times of year, shimmering water, learn from your guide about the legend of the ancestral water snake named Wanampi. Before sundown, go to the Uluru sunset viewing area for the highlight of the day: watching the sun set over Uluru. Sip a glass of bubbly as the iconic rock shades through multiple colors, then feast on a classic Australian barbecue dinner buffet. When night falls, board the bus for the journey to Alice Springs, where your tour ends with a late-night drop-off at the place where you joined the bus.
