Jean-Yves was born in Vietnam and grew up in France. He started to cook as a young boy learning from his mother in the kitchen as he helped her prepare family meals. It was in the kitchen with his mother when he first discovered his love for cooking and baking. Professionally, Jean-Yves was an architect for over 20 years before he decided to follow his true passion, cooking. He re-designed a space in central Paris into a cooking workshop and a second home and enjoys introducing travelers to traditional French macaron making in his modern kitchen!
What to expect:
Cooking Experience: Meet your host Jean-Yves at his converted cooking studio, reflective of who he is, decorated with art and furniture from both France and Asia. Learn more about your host as you swap stories about your travels over sparkling champagne before heading into his modern kitchen for your macaron making class! Chef Jean Yves will show you how to make delicious traditional French macaroons. You will be his sous-chef for the duration of the course of macaron. You will bake scrumptious macarons from scratch in a variety of flavors and learn to complement them with fruit or cream. Jean-Yves is an artist and it is a true joy to witness how he lovingly creates this traditional French dessert.
