The Northeast Meets the South with Two Friendly Hosts
Meet Mint, a music school administrator originally from Korat, a delightful province known as a gateway to the Isaan region of Thailand. Pooh is from Nakorn Sri Thammarat, a beautiful seaside province in the far south known, naturally, for fresh seafood and some of the spiciest food in Thailand. The inspiration, skills, and flavors brought to Bangkok by Mint and Pooh from these far corners of Thailand make them a great hosting team!
As the eldest sister, Mint grew up helping her mother cook for the family, while Pooh was drafted to help in the kitchen of the family restaurant. Pooh confesses that her love for cooking didn’t come easily but was slowly acquired over time. Both are now passionate Thai cooks and are eager to share with their guests the customs and culture of their distinct regions of Thailand.
What to expect:
Market Visit:
Mint will take you to Udomsuk’s neighborhood market, a quick 5-minute walk from the meeting point. After shopping for vegetables and herbs with Mint, she will take you in a taxi ride (15 minutes) to the apartment where Pooh is waiting to welcome you.
Cooking Experience:
Join Mint and Pooh in the kitchen to prepare an authentic Thai mean. The open-air cooking and dining area is on the ground floor, where their neighbors often stop by to say hello.
Mint and Pooh’s specialties include stir-fried pork in red curry paste with string beans (red curry paste, string beans, and baby corn), fried tofu with sweet sauce (tofu, mushroom, baby corn, Chinese celery), and clear soup with seaweed and minced pork (seaweed, tofu, carrot, Chinese celery).
Note:
The cooking and dining zone are in an open-air, shared area of the apartment building.
