Market and Villages in Luberon from Marseille
Live the high life in some of the most rustic hill towns of the Luberon region with this full-day excursion. You’ll pass through the quaint village of Lourmarin and take a stroll through a lively weekly market. You will also visit the villages of Gordes, Oppede-le-Vieux and Menerbes, and make a stop at Fontaine de Vaucluse.
To begin your scenic tour you will be driven through the village of Lourmarin. Then head to either the Roussillon on Thursday tour or L'Isle-Sur-la-Sorgue on the Sunday tour to enjoy a walk through a market offering traditional and local fresh produce. It is well-known how exceptional French cheese is and you are sure to be able to find some fine examples in either location.
Then you head to Gordes for a short photo stop, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France and to Oppede-le-Vieux, a village carved into the rock and whose authenticity has attracted artists and writers for decades. Also on the agenda is a visit to Menerbes, a fortress village that was the setting of a brutal siege lasting more than five years during the 16th-century religious wars. There will also be an opportunity to pause at Fontaine de Vaucluse.
Others market in Apt on Saturday and Senanque Abbey photo stop during the lavender season.
