On this 9 day tour you will drive through some of the island’s most scenic terrain. Rolling hills and carpets of green tea with a few awesome waterfalls are on offer !!!

Day 01: Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. You will be met & greeted by your chauffer. Thereafter, you will be transferred to Negombo (approximately 30 minutes’ drive).

You can spend the rest of the day enjoying the beautiful beach and sunset.

Overnight stay in Negombo.

Day 02: After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to Kandy via Pinnawala (Approximately 03 ½ to 04 hours’ drive).

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. Pinnawala is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. In 2011, there were 88 elephants, including 39 males and 49 females from 3 generations, living in Pinnawala. The orphanage was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to many of the orphaned wild elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. Take an elephant back ride too which is a not to be missed experience in Sri Lanka.

Note: Bottle feeding time is at 13.15 hours and the herd leaves to the river at 14.00 hours

Day 03 : Breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter proceed on a city tour in Kandy including visits to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden and Temple of the Tooth Relic and in the evening, witness a Cultural Dance Pageant.

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden is Sri Lanka’s largest garden with an elegant and spacious 147- acres (60-hectares). There are some 4,000 different species of plants at the garden which showcase all of Sri Lanka’s flora and representative species from around the tropical world. Luminaries as varied as Queen Elizabeth II, Marshal Tito and Yuri Gagarin have planted trees to mark their visits to the garden.

Temple of the Tooth Relic

Temple of the Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple. The Puja times is the best time to visit when offerings & prayers are said and the heavily guarded room is open to devotees and tourists.

Cultural Dance Pageant

Cultural Dance Show features daily shows at 5.30 pm which showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Kandyan Kingdom. These shows essentially comprise various styles of Kandyan dance, and are quite popular with visitors to the Hill Capital.

Day 04 : Breakfast at the hotel. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Nuwara Eliya (Approximately 02 ½ hours drive) which is famous as “Little England” with its colonial type city. En-route, visit a working tea factory and be enlightened on the tea manufacturing process.

Visit a working Tea Factory and be enlightened on the tea manufacturing process. Watch the tea pickers as they nimbly climb up the mountainside with their large baskets and pick the tea leaves, then visit the factory and you will be taken around by a friendly staff member who will explain the process of fermentation, rolling, drying, cutting, sieving and grading of tea.

Hakgala Botanical Garden

Hakgala Botanical Garden was founded in 1860 by the eminent British botanist Dr. GHK Thwaites, who was superintendent of the more famous gardens at Peradeniya, near Kandy. The climate of the Hakgala area, where, mean temperature is around 16ºC is perfect for temperate-zone plants, both ornamental and useful. In the Rose Garden, you can experience the sights and scents of these glorious blooms in their infinite variety. From here it is a short stroll to the exotic Orchid House. A special attraction here is the variety of mountain orchids, many of them endemic to Sri Lanka.

Victoria Park is a public park located in Nuwara Eliya. Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden and in 1897 officially named to commemorate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small scenic lakes that greatly enhance the park's natural beauty. A large number of rare bird species can be found in the park.

Day 05 : With a packed breakfast, proceed to Horton Plains National Park for an early morning game drive(optional- depending on weather conditions ). In the evening, visit Lake Gregory for a boat ride.

Horton Plains National Park

The Horton Plains National Park is a secluded wilderness sanctuary which is 2130 m high and offers one of Sri Lanka’s most unforgettable views. The Horton Plains are the habitat of giant Rhododendron (an evergreen shrub with large clusters of trumpet shaped flowers), tree fern primrose and daffodil orchids and birds such as the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush and Arrenga, the Shaggy Bear monkey and the blue Mormon butterfly and many other endemic and endangered montane species.

The World’s End

This is located within the Horton Plains National Park. It is a sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m). It is one of the most visited parts of the Park, and a key tourist attraction in the country at large. 1 km away from the main cliff is a smaller cliff with a 1,000 feet (300 m) drop, colloquially known as Mini World's End. The Indian Ocean, 81 km to the south, can be observed on clear days.

The Baker’s fall

Lying high within the picturesque mountain plateau of Horton Plains, Baker's Falls is a most scenic waterfall with a height of 66ft. Named after its discoverer, Sir Samuel Baker, an intrepid explorer and big game hunter of the British colonial period, it lies nestled in a forested thicket of montane shrub and tree ferns. A source of the Belihul Oya, it is a broad falls, with its waters cascading over multiple drops and rocky outcrops to a pool at its base.

Lake Gregory is one of the significant tourist attractions in Nuwara Eliya. It was built by the Governor William Gregory during 1872 – 1877 periods by utilizing the water from the Nanu Oya River which runs across the town. It is about 91.2 hectares in extent. It was said to be used for water sports and for re-recreational activities during the British rule. A boat yard now allows visitors to go boating.

Day 06 : Breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter proceed to Nanu oya Railway Station to board the train to Ella (Tickets on availability). The weather gets much cooler and reaches lows of 16 degrees Celsius. The ride will take you past rolling hills and carpets of green tea fields. Your chauffeur will be with your baggage at the Ella Railway Station to pick you up.

In the evening you can take a walk to Ella city.

Day 07 : Breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter take a city tour in Ella including the visits to many attractions around the city.

Ella, a beautiful small village located high in the hill country which has some of the best views in Sri Lanka, where on a clear night from the Ella gap, you can spy the glow of the Great Basses light house on the southern coast.The Ravana Falls, Little Adam’s Peak, Ravana cave and the temple are popular sightseeing attractions in Ella.

Day 08: After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to Galle (Approximately 04 ½ to 05 hours’ drive).In the evening, visit the famous Galle Fort for an evening walk on the rampart.

Galle Fort

Galle Fort, in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument, which even after more than 423 years maintains a polished appearance. The fort has a colorful history, and today has a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population. The heritage value of the fort has been recognized by the UNESCO and the site has been inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage Site .

Day 09 : Breakfast at the hotel. Then, you will be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport (Approximately 02 ½ to 03 hours’ drive)
