The waterways of Thonburi and the Grand Palace of Bangkok offer you a spectacular window into the world of Thailand's capital. This half-day tour through the lively heart of the city shows you some of its most elegant sights and lets you see the centuries of history behind them. It begins when you set out from your hotel and ride to the Chao Phraya River, where you board a traditional long-tailed boat. Your ride along the klongs, or ancient canals, gives you a look at local life along the waterways, along with impressive sights like the magnificent Royal Barges Museum and the towering pagoda of Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn.
Next, step ashore for a visit to the Grand Palace, an architectural wonder that blends traditional Thai and European styles with its golden stupas, classical pillars, and colorful mosaics. Within the palace complex, you can see the Wat Phra Kaew, one of Thailand's most sacred Buddhist temples and home of the famed Emerald Buddha, before a drive through the streets brings you back to your hotel.
