Itinerary

Day 1: On your first day, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Rainbow Beach at 07:30 and transferred to Inskip Point for the 08:30 barge. Once on the world's largest sand island, you will be driven up to the eastern beach, where you have dunes to your left and the Coral Sea to your right, to Eurong Beach Resort. You will then head inland to Lake McKenzie where you will meet the rest of your group and your Cool Dingo guide or driver. The Basin Lake is the first stop where you can get close and personal with the resident freshwater turtles in this delightful perched dune lake. Visit Central Station, which was a former logging station and is now an ancient rainforest. Stroll along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek with its lush green rainforest and rare king ferns. Keep your eyes peeled for eels and catfish which are easily spotted in the clear water. In Pile Valley, check out the giant Satinay trees on this forest walk through the subtropical rainforest. In Lake McKenzie with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, enjoy a refreshing afternoon swim before heading back to Kingfisher Bay Resort. Days 2: Get an early start as you travel through the spine of the island and explore Seventy Five Mile Beach, the world's most gorgeous beach highway, which also doubles as an airstrip. Float down the fast flowing freshwater Eli Creek pouring out 80 megalitres of water daily into the ocean. Enjoy a photo stop at the rusting wreck of the Maheno Shipwreck washed ashore during a cyclone in 1935. Marvel at the varying shades of reds, oranges, ochres, and creams of the Pinnacles Coloured Sands which is another great spot for photos. Climb to the top of the rocky headland for spectacular beach and ocean views at the Indian Head. Chill out in Champagne Pools, a bubbling ocean rock pool. Days 3: Slow the place slightly and visit a few of Fraser Island's lesser well-known beauty spots. As this is the last day on the island, don't forget to take your luggage with you if you are returning to Hervey Bay. Lake Wabby, Fraser's deepest lake is actually a creek that has been dammed by a massive sand blow and also happens to be a pretty cool swimming hole. Trek over one of Fraser's vast, desert-like sand blows, Hammerstone Sandblow. For lunch, we head to Eurong Beach Resort for their world famous all you can eat buffet lunch. Lastly, we visit Lake Birrabeen with its sparkling clear waters and dazzling white beaches to give you a chance to take another dip, the perfect way to finish the tour. After a comfort stop at Eurong Beach Resort, you will join the transfer bus back down the beach to Rainbow Beach.
