Informative Berlin Third Reich and Nazi Bike Tour

Under Hitler and the Nazis, Berlin became the capital of the Third Reich. By the end of the Second World War, more than half of the city was destroyed. On this powerful half-day tour we will take you through this dark time in the city’s history.

We will begin with the legacy of Imperial Germany and how its defeat in the First World War paved the way for Hitler and the Nazis to seize power. We will then hear about how the Nazis used the legal structures of their country to shut down any opposition and target their enemies. Understanding how day-to-day life under the Nazis progressed, it will become clear why some people chose to go along with the fascist regime, and how others risked everything to defy them.

This tour will visit Herman Goering’s Luftwaffe Ministry - some of the only remaining Nazi architecture in the city. We will see some of the damage left in the wake of the Soviet Red Army’s battle for the city and stop at the site of Hitler’s Bunker. We will then visit the military headquarters where the July 20th Plot to assassinate Hitler was launched and discuss Albert Speer’s plan to transform Berlin into the “Germania” World Capital of the Nazi Empire and discuss the bravery of those who resisted it.

There are several WWII and Holocaust Memorials that we include on this tour. At each, your guide will discuss how the modern country of Germany deals with this disturbing chapter of its history. We will visit the neighbourhood that once was Berlin’s Jewish Quarter, and will visit the iconic New Synagogue located within it.

Throughout the ride, you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and get to know your guide and the other group members. We will allow for plenty of time to take pictures and simply absorb all of the information. There is also a refreshment break about halfway through the tour (cost not included) which provides a perfect respite from the heavy topics that we’ll discuss.

Being a half-day tour, you will still have plenty of time to see more of the city after the tour wraps up. Our guides would love to point you to their favourite restaurants and other sights we do not have time to see on this tour.
