Bio:
Chi is a delightful young Vietnamese woman living with her husband in a modest, clean apartment typical of the Vietnamese middle-class on a quiet road in a residential neighborhood off the bustling main streets of Ho Chi Minh City. An English teacher, Chi is delighted to share her home and cuisine with visiting foreigners looking to learn more. Her fish in traditional clay pot is a specialty and one of the most delicious things we’ve eaten in Vietnam.
What to expect:
Market Visit:
Visit a local market to learn about Vietnamese vegetables and how to pick the best ingredients.
Note: Market tours are only offered in the morning due to opening hours.
Cooking Experience:
Join Chi in the kitchen for a hands-on cooking lesson during which you prepare cha gio (crisp pork and shrimp spring rolls) and a traditional soup.
Meal:
Chi's specialty is ca kho (catfish in traditional clay pot). Slow cooked, the fish is mouth-wateringly tender and richly sweet. It takes days to thoughtfully prepare and is incredibly delicious. Chi will tell you about Vietnamese cuisine and dining customs as you enjoy a meal together at her table.
