Andean Lakes Crossing Journey from Bariloche to Puerto Varas
The full-day journey begins with pickup at your Bariloche hotel in a comfortable, climate-controlled bus. Drive along the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake, passing Swiss-inspired architecture and vibrant gardens on the way to Puerto Pañuelo. Here, climb aboard a well-equipped catamaran and sail across the Nahuel Huapi toward Puerto Blest. During the 1-hour voyage, take in the spectacular surrounding scenery of mountains and wild green forests. After arrival at Puerto Blest, ride in a waiting bus along the Frias River to Puerto Alegre, where you’ll board the ‘City of Faith’ vessel. Keep your camera handy for views of Tronador Hill during the 20-minute cruise across the deep emerald waters of Frias Lake. Leave Puerto Frias by bus, crossing the Argentinian border into Chile and catching views of Andean glaciers and the thick foliage of Pérez Rosales National Park en route to Puella. Here, take a 1-hour break for lunch (own expense) before boarding your third and final cruise, across Todos Los Santos Lake. This time, you'll be treated to panoramic views of Puntiagudo Hill and the snow-capped Osorno and Tronador Volcanoes. When you reach Petrohue, take another bus to the nearby Petrohue Waterfalls (admission not included), where you can admire green cascades shooting over volcanic rock and appreciate views of Calbuco and Llanquihue Lake. Reach your final destination, Puerto Varas, between 6:30 and 8 pm (depending on the season). The incredible 11-hour journey concludes with drop-off at your Puerto Varas hotel or the city center.
