Half-Day Panama City Tour
Begin with pickup at your Panama City hotel (selected locations), then the highest point in Panama City, Ancon Hill. Once used for administration of the Panama Canal, this is the ideal place to get your bearings in the city, with views to downtown and the coastline. Continue to the Miraflores Locks and explore Panama Canal history and technology (entrance fees not included). This is the best place to see the locks up close, as ships are raised or lowered 54 feet (16.5 meters) in two stages, and a series of exhibits illustrate the great effort to build the Panama Canal, and how the locks function. Make the final stop of the day in Casco Antiguo, a historic center that was built after Henry Morgan burned Old Panama City to the ground in 1671. Take in a colorful combination of architecture that’s been extensively restored in recent years, including colonial, Caribbean, Gulf Coast, Neo-Renaissance, and French styles, then conclude the tour with drop-off at your hotel.
