Stonehenge and Bath from London plus Roman Baths Option
In the morning, depart from central London by air-conditioned coach and journey west into the scenic countryside and towards your first stop of the day: Stonehenge. Listen as your guide shares facts about this 4,500-year-old stone circle, which many scholars believe was built as a temple aligned to the movements of the sun. Upon arrival, stroll around the monument’s perimeter. Explore the state-of-the-art visitor center, and discover its archaeological displays and audio-visual walkthroughs. Then, continue your journey to the spa city of Bath. Famous for its natural hot springs that were enjoyed by the Romans, as well as for its Georgian architecture and associations with novelist Jane Austen, this lovely city is one of England’s greatest treasures. During a walking tour, listen to your guide’s narration as you admire the honey-colored Georgian buildings, including landmarks such as the sweeping Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge. Afterward, upgrade your ticket to include a visit to the Roman Baths, or simply spend the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure. Perhaps visit the Jane Austen Visitor Centre (own expense), the small museum that showcases Austen’s life and works. When the time comes, reconvene with your guide and finish your trip with drop-off back at your original departure point.
